Gathering: A cultural and social history.
This September, Convenience Gallery alongside collaborators present Gathering. A series of events running alongside an exhibition we will explore and present a snapshot of the social and cultural history of Birkenhead.
This first series will feature:
- Uncovering Birkenhead’s working class history (Exhibition)
- The Old Lairds Art School (Talk and Q&A)
- Spaces of Hope (Exhibition)
- Underground Soundsystem and Basement party with Sugarshack Soundsystem (Late night Event)
These events and exhibition pieces will look at communal gathering spaces and the history of this. This is not a definitive history but a starting point still to recording and gathering more knowledge and learning about Birkenhead’s incredible history.
If you’d like to contribute to this history, relive or learn more about Birkenhead’s fascinating cultural and social history then these events will be must see.

Everything will take place within the VOR. pop up venue at the Treasury Annex Building.
