22nd October 2022

Pilgrim Street Arts centre

Birkenhead International Film Festival

For Biff 2022 we Stepped into another world exploring Science fiction shorts from filmmaker across the globe hosted at the wonderful Pilgrim Street Art centre.

The Birkenhead International Film Festival came back for the 3rd edition and we brought you an evening of Science Fiction Short Films from across the globe.

All of the films included in the festival were short films by independent filmmakers. With submissions coming in from 14 countries world-wide. .

As always our festival was free to attend.

Why Science Fiction?

From our core voluntary BIFF team at Convenience, we saw a lot of love and passion for Sci-Fi, and we wanted to help create a platform for this through the festival. With our previous years festivals presenting animation and horror, we were very excited to present Science Fiction.

It’s a genre steeped in history, thought to date back in literary works as far back as 2000 BCE, before it became much more prevalent in the 17th , 18th and 19th century literature following the scientific revolution. We now see this as a staple of written and visual works, and see it

regularly on our screens on Television to Cinema. Science fiction has massively influenced pop culture through both utopian and dystopian presentations. We were excited to see and share what the 2022 filmmakers showcased during the festival.

BIFF completely sold out for this edition hosting around 100 attendees at Pilgrim street and an incredible performance from the Del Roswells

The BIFFTA 2022 Winner were:

Alan Sanchez: 10:35

Antony Petrou: The Sound

Thanks you to everyone who came and support a landmark sell out event.
