Stephen Forge

Untitled

Forge’s practice is guided by observation of the contemporary built environment, reducing generic  materials and forms from architecture and public spaces to their essential functional qualities.

Structures with slotting joints and flat planes have been developed in his labour intensive studio, where the possibility of visual pleasure is continually questioned and negotiated.

Forge’s UNTITLED at Convenience examines modular components of everyday perfunctory surfaces, in a series of works that utilise fabricated steel and cast concrete-jesmonite steel. Alongside drawings on paper, his ongoing investigation into the reappropriation of ubiquitous tiling is exhibited in concurrent works.

The exhibition will run from the 14th March, at Conveniences Bloom Building Location.
