St. Monicas School Mural with Amy Flynn
For this commission we worked with Amy Flynn/ Dripped Goods (@drippedgoods )
The pupils in year 6 worked alongside artists, Andy, Ryan and Amy to create a mural that celebrates Bootle and the local area. The pupils were inspired by a range of street artists and created the mural using pattern rollers. Each orange stripe shows a repeating design using an image which is important to them.
This built on the signature approach Amy uses in her jewellery and silversmithing work where textures are taken from key and important locations and transferred into jewellery. For this students instead were taught about patterns, and could either repeat textures to create patterns and ultimately something important to them, so we had everything from food, names, animals, to a Montirex logo.
This all came together as a final piece they get to enjoy throughout their year 6 experience. We hope to one day work with the students as professional artists in the future!
