Horizons Lockdown Exhibition 2020

Digital 2020, exhibition: Bloom Building

Horizons; A Community Arts Project

During the first lockdown in 2020, a period of uncertainty and isolation, we provided some online space for a positive creative community through our online creativity project Horizons. We invited everyone within the community from full time artists to first timers to get involved. No matter skill level we wanted to incite passion and for everyone to have a bit of fun getting creative.

The end result of this online project was a showcase of all the digital submissions that we could fit into the Bloom Building once physical spaces reopened safely.

For a series of 6 weeks, we asked for thematic submissions of art, any medium, technique, material, skill level, from sculpture to poetry. We built up an online portfolio of all community shaped works and shared them with the rest of our community. In those times creativity, solidarity and a sense of community are of the utmost importance.

We delivered different tutorials, challenges and call outs alongside local creatives each week! People worked by themselves with their kids, family, and friends. All submissions were showcased across all of our online platforms and in a physical exhibition.

This project was delivered in collaboration with Open Door Charity and Bido Lito.
