Aesthetics programme and exhibition
Programme developed across 2020-21
Exhibition dates:
Aesthetics was an programme and exhibition exploring the experiences and creative practices of 5 artists with lived experience of personality disorders. A part of Convenience Gallery's 21/22 programme In Cahoots.
Aesthetics was a focused project commissioned By CWP in Partnership with the Open Door Charity and Convenience to develop a creative resource which explores the personal narrative, diagnosis and conceptual thoughts of artists with a diagnosis of a PersonalityDisorder.
We worked across 12 months to develop a commissioning process to bring artists from across the globe to develop creative responses and personal journals that document a personal, introspective and deeply insightful exploration of lived experience and diagnosis.
The project aimed to give both insight and understanding, as personality disorders are often misrepresented and misunderstood in the media-centric, social and public realm. Aesthetics played a communal part creating wider conversations in reshaping understanding and placing the narrative in the hands of people with true experience of a personality disorder. Both to create new understanding and shared experience for others with lived experience and those going through diagnostic processes.
